Meet Abhijay Thachery!

Abhijay is responsible for planning and designing Tummoc’s User Interface and User Experience. He’s part of the team that thinks up new features for Tummoc and makes them a reality.

“I was born and brought up in Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu. At the moment, I’m just about to finish my Bachelor’s in Design from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Jabalpur. My college years were quite eventful. I worked as an Art Director in a college-based film crew from 2018–19. During my second year, I worked as a Graphic designer at an SEO-based web designing company in Chennai. In my 7th semester, I worked as UI UX Intern for 5 months.

I joined Tummoc in November 2021. Here, I started off as a UX/UI designer, and my role transitioned to that of a product designer. My work involves taking care of the holistic functional features of the app and converting transportation data into effective products that are easily comprehensible by our users.

It’s been one hell of a learning experience so far. I’m glad to work closely with my boss-cum-mentor, Narayan who maintains very strong professional ethics which is something I really appreciate. Right now, I am learning and enabling myself the best that I can while contributing to Tummoc. I can see Tummoc evolving and expanding as a go-to app for every commute problem while following sustainable commute practices.

As for my hobbies and interests, I have many. I enjoy sketching and creating album art for songs that become my muse. I love to play football, but not to watch it. I love to watch MMA, and not play it. I’m a reader, but not so voracious, and I also like to game.

In terms of music, I’m open to all genres, but I mostly listen to indie alternative or indie folk. With movies, too, I don’t limit myself to a genre. I enjoy cooking, although if I’m honest I’ve been cooking more as a necessity than as a hobby in the last few months. #Adulting

Over the past few years, I’ve also developed an interest in creating murals and wall art (not vandalism). And finally, I’m fascinated by analog cameras, and have been repairing one for a while, as a passion project.”
