Meet Dhruv Narayan SambhavTummoc’s Motion Graphic Intern who creates stunning visuals & animations for marketing as well as for the app.

“I was born in Patna. I lived in Giridih, Jharkhand till I turned six. That’s when, after completing 1st standard, my family moved to Patna, mainly for my sister & my education.

I had to repeat 1st standard because Kendriya Vidyalaya Kankarbagh only took admissions from 1st standard.

I had no friends & my teachers didn’t like me. Every day, I was punished outside the classroom. But, I was born self-reliant & independent. So, it didn’t bother me — except for the times my parents were complained to.

When I was in 9th standard, I was put in a different section & my life began changing. The kids in the new section were cool. I was still an average student, but with my cheating skills, I managed to score good marks. I somehow got through 10th standard.

I chose science (PCB) next — thought I’ll become a doctor. I soon realized that was not going to happen. I realised I would have to study a lot for the rest of my life.

Life was going pretty smooth. I had great friends, was popular & gained more confidence.

There was a girl in my class that I had a crush on. Someone gave me the idea to make a sketch of her so she’ll be impressed & marry me. It seemed like a great plan at the time.

I started practising & made a few portraits of her. That’s when I realized I liked sketching.

Inevitably, school ended & I had to decide what to do with my life. I really liked sketching & creating. So, I started laying out my options.

I didn’t see much scope in the field of art. But, design seemed perfect. I gave the entrance exams & got selected at NID Ahemdabad & IIIT Jabalpur. I chose IIIT Jabalpur.

College started with online classes because of the pandemic. I saw this as an opportunity & got my hands on the software I needed. I started freelancing a little and it felt great that people were actually paying for my work.

This year, offline classes started. College is pretty chill. Every day feels like a vacation. The campus is beautiful — right in the middle of a jungle. Starry nights with loved ones are the best there.

Something I find beautiful is ‘movement’ — clouds drifting, leaves flying with the breeze or fireflies blinking in the dead of night. I can’t get enough of it. That may be the reason I love animating & bringing illustrations to life.

I dream of becoming a god-level animator & I’m pushing my limits every day to make that dream come true. There’s a lot that motivates me, but my parents are at the top of the list. I’ll do everything to see them happy.

Now, I’m a motion design intern at Tummoc. Since it’s my first real job, I’m always excited to show off my skills. I still have a long way to go. Grand office parties are probably my favourite part because I’m still a kid. It’s really nice to work with my team — everything is so systematic that I can focus on designing.”
